How do you wash a wool blanket?
It is best to wash wool blankets as little as possible.
When you first receive one, let it air out nicely. Preferably lying flat on a rack outside on a damp morning. Or, for example, in the same room as a steamy shower. Moisture refreshes a blanket nicely.
If you want to freshen up the blanket, repeat the advice above; let it air out well. Afterwards, a blanket will be very fresh again due to the self-cleaning properties of wool.
If there is a stain, washing is inevitable. Wash wool on a 30-degree wool cycle. Too cold or too warm is harmful to the wool and can cause shrinkage or felting. It is also important to add only a few small wool items or wash it alone. Too much friction with other laundry also causes wool to felt. Use a wool detergent without chemical agents and containing lanolin. This is wool grease and keeps the blanket in good condition. You can find this in the shop.
Do not spin too hard. It is better to lay the blanket on a towel and roll it up carefully. Then, lay the blanket flat on a rack to dry.
